You’re already signed in. It’s where you’ll follow the work, look at the designs, see your invoices and book calls.
One more thing, while it’s fresh

Or do it later: the link is in your confirmation email.

-
Yours to keep
The domain, the design, the words and the code all belong to you.
Once it’s built, you choose
-
Either
Take the code
Included
We hand over the code and everything that goes with it. Host it where you like, give it to your own developer, or do something else with it entirely. It’s yours.
-
Or
Leave it with us
From £35 a month, including VAT
We put the site live, host it, and keep it secure, backed up and up to date. That’s what £35 covers: hosting, security and your visitor statistics.
If you’d like us to keep changing and adding to the site as well, or it gets a lot of traffic, the fee is higher. We’ll tell you what it would be before you decide.
There’s no tie‑in. Stop whenever you like and we’ll hand over the code then.
Examples
Here’s one we made earlier. Three, in fact.
These businesses are made up, so we could show you each package without borrowing a real client’s customers. The websites are real, though. Have a click around.

How it works
About an hour of your time, start to finish.
We’ve cut out the meetings that could have been an email. The Works starts with a longer call, so allow half an hour more for that one. If you’d like more time with Joe, the two bigger packages include it.
Joe’s time: rather more than that.
-
Book
Pick a package and a time to talk to Joe, then pay the deposit.
-
Tell us about your business
Straight after you book, our brief assistant asks the questions Joe would: what you do, who for, and what a good enquiry looks like. It’s an AI, and it says so. Type or talk, skip what you like, and stop and come back whenever you like. It writes everything up, and you correct whatever it got wrong. Or use the plain form, or leave it all for the call.
-
Talk to Joe
A video call, or a coffee if you’re near Chester. It’s half an hour, or a full hour if you’ve picked The Works. Joe will have read your brief, so you can skip the introductions and get on to what the website needs to do. If your brief already tells him enough to start, you’re offered the choice of skipping the call and letting him get going. The two bigger packages come with more calls later on, if you’d like them.
-
Choose a look
Within two working days of your call, or of skipping it, Joe sends three looks for the top of your home page, each with your own name and words in it. Pick the one you like, pin a note to anything you’d change, or tell Joe to choose.
-
We build it
Joe builds it from your brief and sets the design, in the look you chose. You get a link to a working version, and a short video of him showing you round it.
-
You tell us what to change
Click on anything in the preview and leave a note. Joe goes through the lot and sorts it out.
-
It’s yours
Joe does the final checks. Then you choose: we hand over the code for you to do what you like with, or we put the site live and look after it from £35 a month.
Who you’ll be dealing with
Hello, I’m Joe.
I’ve been building websites for a living for more than twenty years. In 2009 I started Jolora with my wife Laura, and most of the work there is big and complicated and takes months.
Shopbell is the other kind: a good, simple website for a business that wants more enquiries and doesn’t want a six‑month project to get them.
I can do these at a fixed price because each one is a known amount of work: the package says what’s in it, and I’ve built enough websites to know how long that takes. I use AI to draft some of the words and the code, and I read and correct every line before you see it.
The rest is me: working out what your customers need to see, noticing when something’s off, and picking up the phone. You’ll have my email and my number, and I’ll be the one who answers.

Questions
Things people ask before they book.
What do I need to have ready?
Not much. A logo if you have one, some photos if you’ve got good ones, and fifteen minutes to answer questions about your business. If all you’ve got is the fifteen minutes, we can work with that.
Who writes the words?
We do, from what you tell us in your brief and on your call. You read them, change anything that doesn’t sound like you, and Joe tidies up the rest.
What about photos?
Yours are best, even phone ones, because they show the real business. If you haven’t any, we’ll use illustration or carefully chosen stock, and tell you which is which.
Can I have more time with Joe?
Yes, on the two bigger packages. The One‑Pager has one 30‑minute call. The Small Site has up to two calls, and The Works up to three, the first of them a full hour. They’re there if you want them. If you’d rather leave him to get on with it, that’s fine too: once your brief tells him enough to start, you can skip the first call as well.
What if I don’t like it?
Then say so. Every package includes at least one round of changes, and Joe would much rather hear it than not.
When do I pay the rest?
When you’re happy with the site and it’s ready to hand over or go live. For The Works, half of the balance is due once the brief is agreed and the other half at the end.
What do I get at the end?
All of it: the code, the design, the words and the pictures. You can host it yourself, hand it to your own developer or do something else with it entirely. If you’d rather not think about any of that, we’ll put it live, host it and keep it secure from £35 a month.
Can I change things myself afterwards?
On The Small Site and The Works, yes: you get a simple editor for the words and pictures. And since the code is yours, you or another developer can change anything. If you’d rather we made changes for you, we can do that for a higher monthly fee.
What happens to my deposit if I change my mind?
If, after your call with Joe, either of you thinks it’s not a good fit, you get all of it back. If you skip the call, the same goes once Joe has read your brief. That holds until he sends your looks, or you tell him to choose one for you. After that it goes towards the work done.
What about my domain name and email?
If we’re putting the site live for you, we’ll connect your domain, or help you buy one in your own name so it stays yours whatever happens. We can point you in the right direction for email too.
Do I have to be near Chester?
No. The call can be on video and everything else happens online. If you are nearby, Joe is happy to meet in person.
Do you use AI?
Yes. It drafts some of the words and the code, which is part of how a first version is ready in days. Joe sets the design, reads every line before it goes near your customers, and rewrites a fair amount of it. He’s been doing this for more than twenty years and has opinions. We use the smallest model that will do the job properly, and none at all where a few lines of ordinary code would do.
Will I end up talking to a chatbot?
Once, if you choose to, and it’ll introduce itself. The brief assistant is an AI because it’s good at asking questions and writing up the answers. After that you’re dealing with Joe, on the call, by email and on the phone. If you’d rather not, the same questions are there as a plain form, or you can skip both and just talk to Joe.
Where does my information go?
To Joe, and to the AI services he works with. Your brief, and the words and pictures for your website, are sent to them to be worked on, which is how a first version gets made in days. At present that means Claude, made by Anthropic in the United States, which doesn’t train its models on what we send. We send what the work needs and no more, and your own customers’ records are never put in. If there’s something you’d rather no AI saw, tell Joe and it stays with him. The privacy policy has the rest.
What if I need something bigger?
Then you’ve come to the right people by accident. Most of what we do is larger, custom work: have a look at what we usually build.
Thanks. I’ve sent an email to to check it’s yours. Press the button in it, and the prices and the examples follow straight away. If it isn’t there in a few minutes, have a look in your junk folder.
Got a question first? Give Joe a bell.
Asking costs nothing, and he’d rather you asked than wondered.
